FOOTY RIDER: 50% saving on match day bus travel with Stagecoach

Carlisle United Football Club and Stagecoach Cumbria launched the Footy Rider match day scheme way back in 2012, and we’re delighted to confirm that it is set to continue for the season ahead.

On production of a valid season ticket or match ticket at point of purchase, United fans will receive a 50% discount on current day ticket prices (subject to change, should fares increase, but the half-price discount will always apply).

Prices with the 50% discount applied are currently £1.85 for the Carlisle city area, £3.90 for the Carlisle Plus ticket (as far as Gretna, Brampton, Hexham, Wigton and Penrith) and £6 for the Explorer, which is essentially anywhere outside the plus zone.

The Footy Rider ticket offer will be available for every first-team home game for the whole of the 2022/23 Sky Bet League Two season – remember, this means supporters can travel on Stagecoach buses to the game for just half the price of a normal Dayrider ticket.

To purchase a ‘Footy Rider’ ticket, you will need to show the driver either …

  • … a 2022/23 season ticket or …
  • … a match ticket for the game taking place on that day.

The Footy Rider ticket will be valid on all Stagecoach in Cumbria services for the same zones as their standard day ticket areas, whether that is a Carlisle Dayrider within the city boundaries, a Carlisle Dayrider Plus from Penrith, Wigton, Brampton, Gretna and others or a Day Explorer from anywhere Stagecoach in Cumbria and North Lancashire run services, including Workington, Whitehaven, Keswick, Dumfries and Newcastle.

Michael Sanderson, head of commercial at Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancashire said: “Stagecoach is delighted to offer our continued support to Carlisle United and Blues fans for travel to and from home games throughout the coming season.

“Travel to a match has never been easier. With an extensive network of services operating seven days a week, until late at night, we offer a convenient alternative to travel into the city.

“Not only do we reduce the stress of driving and parking nearby but from as little as £1.85 we offer a cost effective and hassle free solution to save our customers time and money.”

United’s commercial sales manager Debbie Huddart said: “Our partnership with Stagecoach is going from strength to strength and it’s fantastic for the club that we are able to offer such a significant saving to our fans for another full season.

“Relationships like this are important because it helps us to help our supporters to get to the stadium in a cost effective way.

“At the same time it allows the club and Stagecoach to reach out across Carlisle and the County of Cumbria as a whole with what we think is a fantastic scheme.

“We would like to thank everyone at Stagecoach for their continued support of the club and the wider community.”
