COMMERCIAL: The Cumberland sponsors United for a further two years

Carlisle United are delighted to announce that The Cumberland is extending its partnership with the club.

The building society will continue as sponsor of the club’s Community Ticket Scheme for two more years and it will also retain the naming rights to the Community Stand.

It means thousands of youngsters will be able to watch The Blues for free this season. The Community Ticket Scheme provides local primary schools and community groups with up to 300 free tickets for home football matches.

The Cumberland’s sponsorship of the scheme has now been in operation for just over 12 years and the community-based partnership took another step in 2013 when the club’s A Stand was rebranded as the Cumberland Community Stand.

Strong supporters of the Blues, The Cumberland had previously sponsored the East Stand and a number of other initiatives in and around Brunton Park.

“The new branding on their stand looks magnificent, and we are proud to further consolidate our partnership with this new agreement, and we look forward to enjoying many successful years ahead.”

Carlisle manager Paul Simpson said: “When I came to the club in February I spoke about how important it is for the community to feel part of everything we do, and I can’t thank The Cumberland enough for what is a brilliant example of that with their Community Stand and Ticket Scheme.

“This not only gives youngsters a chance to come to a game, when they perhaps wouldn’t otherwise do so, but it also fosters fans of the future, which is so important.

“I know The Cumberland are huge supporters of the club and it’s always good for us to see successful local businesses and companies giving their support, particularly when, like this, it’s for the benefit of so many people.”

“By sponsoring the Community Ticket Scheme we are able to provide hundreds of free tickets to local primary schools and community groups in the area and help the club to develop its next generation of fans.

“In terms of the Community Ticket Scheme, we do a lot of work with schools as part of our own community outreach programme and that has been enhanced by being able to link up with the club to provide this unique match day experience.”

This donates 1% of the total average balance to the club, as well as offering a range of other benefits including a discount in the Blues Store and a free prize draw which gives young savers the chance to be a mascot at future home games.
