CLUB: Carlisle Youth Zone at Brunton Park

For the Swindon Town home game on Saturday we will be celebrating International Youth Day with some very special guests from Carlisle Youth Zone in attendance.

International Youth Day is an opportunity for us to celebrate the youth and diversity in our community and give opportunities to those young people from Carlisle who would not ordinarily get the chance to come to Brunton Park.

We are looking forward to tomorrow as well as developing and strengthening the relationship with Carlisle Youth Zone and the young people of the area.

Caroline Taylor-Beswick, CEO of Carlisle Youth Zone, said: “Carlisle Youth Zone (CYZ) are delighted to have been invited to celebrate International Youth Day 2022 with CUFC.

“As a charity welcoming over 1,000 visits from young people aged 7 - 18yrs (and up to 25yrs for those with additional needs) to the Zone each week, we deeply value our relationship with CUFC, and look forward to strengthening our work together so that more young people can benefit from the experiences, role models, ambition and opportunities the CUFC community provides.

“This year's International Youth Day theme is intergenerational solidarity, and CUFC offers our community a great space and purpose to being people of all ages together.

“We also know the positive impact for young people of seeing different community groups and organisations willing to demonstrate and communicate loud and proud their value of our city's youth, through marking celebratory days such as this.

“So, our thanks to all at CUFC for celebrating International Youth Day and creating opportunities for us and our members to join you.”

Fan trust CUOSC* board director and CUSG** Supporters’ Groups EDI Officer Nigel Davidson said: “We had great success last season developing relationships with new and existing community groups in the area.

“Saturday is an exciting opportunity not only to build on that, but to do so with such a vibrant and passionate group as Carlisle Youth Zone. We look forward to seeing and welcoming their young people, parents and staff on Saturday.”

CUFC CEO Nigel Clibbens said: “We have strong and long-standing links with Carlisle Youth Zone and indeed Paul Simpson was a star guest recently at one of its events, so we are pleased to welcome them to the game.

“Alongside the fantastic work of the Community Sports Trust, we are committed to supporting youth projects in our community.  We want to give young people the opportunity to come to games, so linking up with community groups is really important to us.”

We will also welcome over 200 other children as part of our Cumberland Community Ticket Scheme (Warwick Wanderers U12 Panthers, Whitehaven Amateurs U12, Hexham U14, Crusaders Reds U9) and football teams from Aspatria U10 and Northbank U10 who are playing on the pitch at half-time.

Future games will see other community groups join us – if you want to get involved please contact EDI@carlisleunited.co.uk
