All of the work done this week is with one thing in mind, and that’s the first-round Emirates FA Cup meeting with Horsham FC this coming Saturday.
Manager Keith Millen confirmed that he wants the players to treat it as an opportunity to put on a good performance and to secure progression to the next stage.
“It has to be that,” he told us. “Whoever we play next weekend, it’s an opportunity to win. The fact it’s Horsham in the cup, it doesn’t matter to me.
“It’s their cup final, them coming to us. It can be a banana skin, but we can’t look upon it like that. It’s the next game that gives us the chance to put things right.
“The good thing is I’ve got a full week to work with the lads so hopefully come Saturday we’ll be in a better place.”
“It’s a game where it’ll be great if we win, if not we’ll be under even more pressure. It’s the next game, so it’s the one we do the work for.
“As I say, it’s like an FA Cup final for Horsham so we can’t win whatever we do, because we’re expected to come out on top. It’s a game where I want to see more belief and confidence, but that would be the same if it was a league game.”
