Carlisle United's under 8's and under 9's travelled to Manchester City's football academy on Sunday to take on various Manchester City academy teams.
Coaches Mark Birch, Warren Matthews and Charlie Birch challenged the teams to play at a high intensity, working hard when in and out of possession of the ball.
Lead foundation phase coach Warren Matthews said: "Both teams competed well in the games they played, which we were really pleased with.
"The under 8s played at a high standard and created lots of goal scoring opportunities, which is always good to see, whatever age level you're playing at.
"The under 9s worked hard out of possession against a very technical Manchester City team, and they also carried a threat when counter-attacking.
"Overall it was an enjoyable and challenging day of football for our two youngest age groups at the home of the Premier League champions.
"It was a great experience in the early days of the children's footballing journey and we thank Man City for the way in which they looked after us on the day."
