Carlisle United's Academy recently received a donation of equipment from the Carlisle United Supporters' Club London Branch and, after only a few weeks of use, the benefits are already showing.
Lead Youth Phase Development Coach John Foley explained: "As a group of staff we are hugely proud of the role the London Branch play in helping with making improvements within our academy.
"They continue to provide vital equipment that enhances our professionalism.
"An earlier donation of a video camera and extendable pole allows us to analyse and work on things in training as well as celebrate individual and team success.
"We decided to highlight some goals that we were particularly pleased with, either because they were fantastic team goals or superb individual goals. That is where the concept of an academy goal-of-the-month came about."
Mike Carruthers from the London Branch explained the importance of supporting the academy.
"Donating our funds to the academy hopefully reaps long-term benefits to the club," he commented. "We were delighted to continue this excellent relationship with the donation of the goal-of-the-month trophy as we know how special it is to receive an award.
"We chose the first winner as it encapsulated some brilliant individual and team play."
