CATERING: Essential to have this level of expertise

Following this week’s announcement that catering and hospitality has been brought in-house by the club, and that the club is now open for business and bookings, we are excited to report that we have already seen a good reaction from people who are interested in the new direction we have taken.

Remember, every pound of profit will be reinvested in the club.  Spending by fans in the ground on our catering services will benefit the club more than ever before.

Don’t forget to get your voice heard by giving us feedback via the questionnaire – this is a chance for you to let us know what you felt about the services you received, and what you would like to see going forward.

In Monday’s announcement we explained that the club is now in charge of all catering and hospitality services.

As part of that John Watt & Son will play a vital supporting role.

“In the past we handed over responsibility and control to a third-party contractor,” chief executive Nigel Clibbens explained. “That has changed, we are now in control, but with an understanding and acknowledgement that we can’t do it all on our own, particularly as we effectively start from scratch.

“John Watt & Son are a very highly regarded local operator who will help us. To find out more about them, visit their official website HERE.

“We will work with them on all aspects of the operation, but the club will make any final decisions required. They will be with us, but supporting us in the background. From a supporter point of view they won’t be visible.

“We wouldn’t and couldn’t have taken this in-house step without their support. Football is our business, we are not experts on catering, so it’s essential to have that expertise working with us. We will benefit from hands-on practical support and we will work together in partnership.

“However, we understand that the responsibility stays with the club – we know that, and we are looking forward to the challenge.”

“With such a long period where fans haven’t been at the games it means we start from a clean slate,” he continued. “We have already spent a lot of time with Peter and Carol Johnston (of John Watt & Son) making arrangements and full use of their expertise.”

Peter Johnson said: “As a lifelong supporter I am excited to be using our expertise, which has been gained in a varied career within hospitality, to drive the catering operation forward, to deliver benefit to our local supply chain and supporters, and to bring value to the club.”

Carol added: “Having sampled the catering when watching the Blues over the years I am excited to be on this journey to improve the service and quality as we reopen and start a new season.”

Peter and Carol will be attending the CUSG meeting on 7 June 2021 to meet supporters’ groups and answer any questions fans may have.
