United's unbeaten five-game run came to an end on Saturday morning as Rochdale took their chances to take the points.
Dale took a first half lead, then extended it after the break, and youth boss Eric Kinder had no complaints come the final whistle.
"This is one where we have to hold our hands up and say they were better then us in every department on the day," he said. "We didn't get going, but that's because they didn't allow us to.
"Recent results suggested that they were going to a tough side to face, and they're the best side we've faced this season.
"There are no complaints from us. They played very well and they deserved their victory."
