We’re looking forward to seeing you – let’s celebrate your return together!
It’s all systems go for the opening game of the 2020/21 season with plans already at an advanced stage for the home meeting with Colchester United on Saturday 7 August [kick off 3pm].
And we want to thank you for your patience, understanding and magnificent support through what has been an unbelievably difficult period for all concerned by making your eagerly anticipated return extra special.
We’re looking to create a celebration ‘party style’ atmosphere with the match day very much taking on a real community focus, and we want everyone to be here to help us share and mark the occasion together.
Full details to follow, but we can already confirm that entry prices for this game will be slashed:
Adults (over 18) - £10
18 and under - £5
Under-7 - Free of Charge
These prices are for seated and terraced areas of the ground.
You’ve missed us, we’ve missed you – but now You’re Coming Home!
In the coming days we’ll be reaching out to community groups as we look to make the build-up to kick-off a spectacle.
We’ll be asking you to nominate your Local Heroes – people who went above and beyond to help out during the lockdown periods – who will take to the pitch for a special thank you and who will be acknowledged in our match day programme.
We want you to turn Brunton Park blue and white (and black) with as many of you as possible showing your brand-new colours.
Chief executive Nigel Clibbens said: “I’ve said a number of times over the past 18 months that our fans have been magnificent.
“They followed us in great numbers on iFollow, supported us in other ways financially by not asking for refunds and by purchasing from the Blues Store, for example, and we’ve spoken for a long time about the need for us to say thank you to them for all of that.
“With our first competitive game with no restrictions being at home, we want to make it special. We’ve missed you and I know our fans have missed being here with us.
“We feel this is the ideal opportunity to celebrate. That’s why we’ve cut the entry prices and why we want to make it a special event.
“We want as many people as possible to be able to take another step towards normality by coming to the stadium and cheering on their team.
“Cumbrians together, as a community, are formidable. We saw that first-hand with the way everybody pulled together through the lockdowns. We’re looking forward to thanking our community at the Colchester game.”
Finance director Suzanne Kidd said: “Just having our fans back is going to be special enough, but how brilliant will it be if there’s a sea of home and away shirts to greet the lads as they come out of the tunnel.
“The Brunton Roar is talked about because it really does make a difference, and we have a few ideas in the pipeline to help with that.
“Low prices for this game will bring even more people to see us, and we know our season ticket holders will understand and support us in what we’re trying to achieve.
“We want to welcome everybody back, we want to see our community spirit shining through and we want to say thank you to everybody who supports this club by making the return to their spiritual home a really uplifting experience.”
