United had the relatively short hop to Accrington on Saturday morning and they made it back-to-back wins in what was a scrappy encounter.
Dylan Garvey continued his recent scoring streak when he put the away side in front in the first half, but Stanley were back on terms with just two minutes played of the second period.
Keelan Leslie restored the advantage when he popped one into the top corner, and a through ball from Carr allowed DJ Taylor to wrap up the points with a neat finish.
Academy boss Eric Kinder said: "It was a very scrappy game. But, to be fair, we could have had three or four goals in the first half. Their keeper was excellent and he made some great saves.
"Even though we weren't great we did what we had to do and we saw it through. That was really pleasing.
"The goals were well taken and Sam Fishburn led the line well. On top of that we got 20 minutes for Lewis Bell, so that's him up and running.
"Overall it's a good result from a performance where we dug in."
