United boss Chris Beech gave us a very positive injury update at his hastily arranged Tuesday afternoon press conference, revealing first that midfielder Callum Guy had shaken off the knock he picked up in last Tuesday’s Forest Green home game.
“Callum would have made it for the Orient game, he was good,” he said. “He knows he shouldn’t have dived in against the winger for Forest Green’s penalty, but he was feeling fine.
“The other ones we shared with you the other day, Morgan Feeney and Jamie Armstrong, Jamie had his operation on Sunday. He’ll be fully recovered when he can get going again, he’ll have to be more patient than the other ones, and Danny Devine’s doing great.
“I suppose when you look at George Tanner, I’m sure he broke his collarbone but I don’t think he’s missed a game with the way things have gone!”
“I think George is doing great,” he added. “Danny Devine’s was strange, he did the same injury Callum Guy did last season, that bad tackle he got off that Cheltenham centre-half; Danny did something the same but it was completely innocuous in terms of how it happened.
“I think he’s only got four weeks to go. There are positives and negatives to everything in life and these boys are in a position where they haven’t missed as many games as they thought.”
