United’s weekend goals came from taking the chances when they popped up, something the squad has been guilty of not doing through what has been a frustrating spell.
From Callum Guy’s delivery to Jordan Gibson’s winding run, things were made to happen, with the reward being the win come the final whistle.
“We have a number of players who can do things like this for us,” boss Keith Millen said. “We have creativity, we’ve seen that, it’s just about putting it all together.
“We know we need to help our front men more. We need to create more quality chances for them. Saturday was about a mindset, as well as a way of playing, and we showed that we can be aggressive in the right way when the ball goes into both boxes.
“That’s maybe what we’ve lacked sometimes, because we’ve got a lot of ability, so it’s just matching the desire to go with it that wins you games at this level.
“There’s still more for us to do. They’ll have a couple of days rest now, we were always going to do that anyway, because they’ve worked hard. But then we need to do some work.
“I’m not going to give them a nice easy week. We need to keep working hard. We take each game as it comes, home or away, and it’s good to have a week where we can recover and prepare.
“They’ve had a really tough run of games, with the games and the travelling, and that’s something we have to deal with at our club. We try to make sure we plan our weeks as professionally as we can and I’m learning as I go along with that.
“I have to find the balance of keeping them fresh, but there’ll be some time where we can still do what’s needed.”
