The summer transfer window closes on Tuesday night and United boss Chris Beech confirmed on Saturday evening that work is ongoing, but that he’ll also be pleased once the deadline has passed so that he and his squad can concentrate on the job at hand.
“We have a great squad and I’ll be pleased when the window closes in terms of people being able to concentrate on their jobs,” he said. “We’ve done well and that creates interest outside the walls of Carlisle, and sometimes that can affect one or two people.
“People try to turn heads in this game and if you’re working hard it creates its own energy in terms of people looking and asking why.
“On the other side of it we’re obviously trying to bring people in, and we have to make sure we look after ourselves and look after everybody who is here.
“I’m happy with how the group has represented us, and I know they’ll continue to do that. When it doesn’t quite happen, as happened on Saturday, we know they’ll respond.
“We’re constantly looking at things and hopefully we’ll have a little bit of news before 11pm on Tuesday. We’re always active and looking. Ultimately the players have to represent, whoever it is, the right way to what we’ve stood for so well.
“We have to concentrate on that and, as we keep saying, we need anyone who comes in to be able to fit in to what we are and add to the positive traits that have served us so well.”
