The Blue Army certainly didn’t disappoint on Saturday afternoon as they turned out in large and loud numbers to see in the first game of the season.
And they saw their side create some excellent openings as they roared them on for the full 90 minutes, with the players able to show their appreciation for the support once the full-time whistle had blown.
“You don’t have to ask the question, it’s an obvious answer, it’s fantastic,” Chris Beech replied when asked what it was like to have fans at the game once again. “Well done to them, thank you for your support, and I’ll try my best to make sure our players wear that badge on their shirt with pride and play with their hearts and heads, that’s all I want.
“They came out to see us and I think, looking at that, they’ve not got what they want, the win, but they’ve definitely got the performance.
“I would imagine they’ll be quite comfortable coming back and watching a bit more of that. We’ve got to make sure that’s our minimum requirement and standard of giving 100 per cent for them and the lads, and their families, and also of course myself.”
