Our bespoke 2020/21 ERREA club face masks proved to be extremely popular through the pandemic, with 802 of our home and away designs snapped up by fans eager to show their support for the club through what was a difficult time.
And that support also means that fans have backed those wonderful people at Jigsaw, with £1 from every mask sold going to Cumbria’s only Children’s Hospice.
A delegation from the club popped down to Jigsaw on Thursday afternoon to hand over the cheque for £802, and staff were quick to pass on a thank you to the fans for the efforts in raising funds for this fantastic facility, and the vital work it does.
Finance director Suzanne Kidd said: “When we first announced that we would be making the £1 donation from each mask sold to Jigsaw it received such a positive reaction.
“I think the people of Cumbria know how important the hospice is and we’re really pleased that we’ve been able to hand over such a significant amount of cash on behalf of our fans.
“It shows once again just how community spirited our supporters are. Everyone in the area knows someone who has needed Eden Valley or Jigsaw, and we will continue to do what we can to maintain and strengthen what is an already strong link.”
Midfielder Callum Guy said: “It was great to be part of the group handing over the cheque for the hospice.
“We’ve heard a lot about the link between Jigsaw and the club and we want to do our bit to carry that on.
“This is another good thing about restrictions being lifted, as far as we’re concerned. We are still being very cautious, but when the situation is right, as it was with this, we’re now able to get out into the community and meet people who do so many good things.
“The fact that we’ve made this donation from money our fans have raised makes it even more special. I’m proud of the fact that we’ve been able to represent them in this way.
“We were also able to thank the staff at the hospice for the work they do. Thank you once again to everybody who bought a mask and who helped us to make this donation.”
