The FC Halifax Town home game signalled a return to the field of play for defender Rod McDonald, who closed off the match in his usual centre back position.
“Rod trained on Thursday,” Gav Skelton confirmed. “He got 15 minutes on Friday, and we trained after the game and he did that full session. He’s looking sharp and he’ll be another one that gives us competition for places.
“Morgan Feeney is hopefully not far away. He’s been with me and the physio this afternoon [Friday] and he trained after the game, so he should be all ready to train on Monday as well.”
“Overall we’re pleased with where we are as a group,” he said. “We’re not getting carried away, we didn’t last week when at the time we were a bit disappointed with the Blackpool game.
“We watched it back and it wasn’t as disappointing as we felt it was at the time. We head into next week having seen some really good stuff from a lot of people.
“George Tanner got 90 minutes and looked strong. I thought Corey Whelan looked strong as well, it’s good for all the lads.
“People got good game time, with those who hadn’t had as many minutes topping up, so they’re all getting up to the same level and ready for next Saturday.”
