The United youth team's final pre-season friendly of a strange summer was the short hop over the A69 to face Newcastle United.
And it started as a tough outing for the young Blues as the Magpies deservedly claimed a first half lead.
Newcastle extended their lead moments after the break, but United rallied and goals from Dylan Garvey and Sam Fishburn saw the away side complete an impressive turnaround.
Youth boss Eric Kinder said: "We were poor in the first half, we just didn't get going at all.
"They took the lead and we huffed and puffed, but there was nowhere near the quality we wanted to see.
"When Newcastle scored just after the break we did think it was probably gone from us, but it actually went the other way.
"Things clicked, we started to find our passes and the tempo was excellent. Dylan and Sam got their goals, and we were a whisker away from winning it at the end when Fishburn popped a good effort just wide.
"So, having started the morning feeling really disappointed, we end up coming away feeling really pleased and with more positives to talk about."
