Second-year youth keeper Isaac Robinson has today joined Northern Premier League north west division side Workington AFC on a work experience loan deal, and he goes straight into the squad for this afternoon’s away trip to face Pickering Town.
Robinson, 18 last week, has trained regularly with the first team and was part of the senior squad for a number of pre-season friendlies.
Assistant manager Gav Skelton said: “We all saw what happened with Workington last season so Isaac knows he’s going to a club that has only one thing in mind, and that’s promotion.
“With it being a work experience arrangement there’s no pressure on him, us, or Workington, and he can still train with us and work with Danny [Grainger] as required.
“He’ll be in an environment today where the Reds will be looking to get off to a good start, so this will be another excellent part of his learning curve.”
