United almost completed a fantastic comeback on Saturday morning as they staged a late surge against Salford.
The visitors bagged three goals in the first hour to establish a cushion, but Max Kilsby and Sam Fishburn grabbed goals to make it an exciting finish.
"I can't complain at the result," youth boss Eric Kinder said. "They were stronger than us for over 60 minutes and we couldn't cope with their striker.
"We were better after Max scored but we'd left ourselves with too much to do.
"Like I say, they played well and they deserved the win, and we know where we need to better."
