The first group game of this season's Youth Alliance Cup competition took United to Morecambe on Saturday morning.
And it was the home side who took the victory despite a goal from Dylan Garvey which had the young Blues back at 1-1 with much of the second half still to play.
Youth boss Eric Kinder said: "We let ourselves down and we got what we deserved from what was a poor performance."
