It was back to league action for the Blues on Saturday morning as they made the relaively short hop to Rochdale.
And they ended up being involved in another all-action encounter as they raced into a two-goal lead with just 20 minutes on the clock.
Captain Keelan Leslie scored inside the first minute to set the tone, and Lewis Bell doubled the advantage midway through the half to put the away side in the driving seat.
A penalty for Dale on the stroke of half time got them right back in it, and sustained pressure after the break eventually led to the equaliser.
Youth boss Eric Kinder said: "We were excellent for 30 minutes, then really poor for the remaining hour.
"It's a strange one because with the way we started we should have won, but with the way the rest of the game went we could easily have lost.
"Perhaps that means the draw was the right result."
