The Carlisle United Community Sports Trust Mental Health Group have forged another strong link with a group from Edinburgh known as Street Soccer.
The introductions were first made at a competition which was hosted by Everton FC last September, where the groups got together to discuss the possibility of a much more regular and closer link-up.
Words became actions on Tuesday when Street Soccer came down from Scotland to take part in a round-robin tournament held on the Harraby 3G pitches.
CST manager John Halpin said: “It was a great day for all concerned. The possibility of a visit became reality this week and we really do think it’s fantastic that we’ve been able to create a new friendship in this way.
“Congratulations to Street Soccer, they ran out as narrow winners, but the most important thing to come out of it is that we have firm plans for making sure that the relationship continues to grow.
“A visit to Edinburgh is planned for the Spring, and I can’t tell you enough about how important things like this are for our group.”
