Tony Gallimore’s penalty conversion against Hereford in the second week of the month earned the Blues a new club record as they extended their league run to 19 games unbeaten.
That impressive feat included 12 victories to complement the seven draws as United continued to strengthen their grip at the top of the division.
Progression in the League Trophy was also secured with a hard-fought away win at Gresty Road which took Carlisle to a double-header semi-final with Rochdale.
A first ever appearance at Wembley was all but booked at the end of the month when Thomas (2), Currie and Conway scored the goals in the first-leg to give United a seemingly comfortable lead to take to Spotland.
The only blemish in an otherwise exciting month of football was just the second league defeat of the season as Preston, also pushing for promotion at the time, sneaked a workmanlike one-goal home win at Deepdale.
