Defender Gethin Jones has made 24 appearances for the Blues since joining the club on a short-term deal midway through September, and he’s already showed his versatility in covering a number of positions.
With his current contract due to run out this month, head coach Chris Beech confirmed this week that he had already spoken to the player about the immediate future.
“Gethin knows my thoughts on him,” he said. “I’ve known him from being a young player at Everton. He played for my home-town at Fleetwood, I know him very well, and I’m very pleased with his professionalism.
“He’s consistent, he’s never ill, never injured, he’s adaptable and he’s available. He’ll make mistakes but he’s right behind trying to be better, and they’re the sort of people I want to work with.”
“We’ve had a few chats already,” he added. “Of course David Holdsworth is completely aware of the contract situations of everybody. It’s all in good hands. You’ve got to get the right thing for everybody.
“I want to improve Gethin, I want him to get to the Championship standards that he has before, but on his terms, and I want more players doing that.”
