It was another home game for the youth team on Saturday morning as they came up against bottom side Port Vale.
And they eventually mastered the conditions to record a convincing victory thanks to a set of well executed set pieces.
Youth boss Eric Kinder said: "The weather conditions were horrific from the moment we kicked off, but the pitch actually played extremely well.
"We had the wind with us for the first 45 minutes and we were three goals up by half time. Elliott Day opened things up for us when he slotted a deep corner home at the far post.
"Charlie Barnes then weighed in with one, and Day added another to put us in a very good place.
"It's probably fair to say that we played much better with the wind coming at us, and it was really good to see Elliott get himself a hat-trick, and that was another good finish from yet another deep corner.
"The points were wrapped up when Jimiel Chikukwa went through and slotted it past the keeper, and that was another really good individual goal from him.
"Overall we come away very pleased having got on top of the conditions and played some good football."
