United were back to winning ways on Friday afternoon, following the disappointment of last weekend's result against Salford, with a workmanlike victory over Accrington at Creighton.
A brace for Jimiel Chikukwa - in on work experience for a month - sealed the deal for the Blues as they enjoyed plenty of possession without quite managing to take the game by the scruff of the neck.
Youth boss Eric Kinder said: "It was a better performance, but we didn't use the possession we had in the way we could and should have.
"We were back to what I'd been talking about quite a lot before Christmas - we got into good areas but we didn't really look like scoring.
"I was delighted for Jimiel because he took his chances well, and it's a great way for him to introduce himself to everybody.
"Overall we're pleased with the win but we still want more from the group. If they're on top in a game they have to find a way to kill it off, but there was plenty to be positive about."
