Our Carlisle United Community Sports Trust have recently started a brand new 12-week traineeship course, with their first nine students having graduated from what they described as a very worthwhile and enjoyable experience.
The traineeships course is a 12-week course that combines employability skills and work placements to kick start careers.
The course has been running since September and with the support of our programme partners Inspira and Riverside, nine students enrolled and all nine graduated in January 2020.
The students study maths and english, improve their employability skills, gain work based qualifications and were placed in work experience placements in the area of work they were interested in.
The second cohort is already under way, with another nine students enrolled on this exciting course.
Teresa Mullholland, CST Traineeships Coordinator, said: “The course is a fantastic opportunity for young adults between the ages 16-19 years old who are not in employment, education or training to gain the skills needed to get a job.
"We can give them access to a further education course or an apprenticeship, as well as different work experience opportunities. The candidates we get just need someone to believe in them and give them the opportunity to shine, and as you can see from the two case studies below, we have already had some real success stories."
