United head into the Tuesday night game against Mansfield Town looking to make it four wins on the bounce – with the other eye-catching stat tagged to this current run the fact that the Blues have won eight of their nine home league games so far.
The Stags are the division’s draw specialists, with 10 of their 17 outings ending up as stalemates, so it’s going to prove to be another test as the games continue to come thick and fast.
“They’re a good team,” manager Chris Beech said. “Nigel Clough has been managing a long time and he’s had some great experiences at Sheffield United, and at Burton too.
“He knows what he’s doing. He’ll have those lads right at it and they’ll have an understanding of what we’ve been like at home, so we’ll be taking nothing for granted.
“If you don’t bring your toolbag to work, you can’t do a job. We have to make sure we bring our bag with us.”
“I’ve come up against Nigel a lot at Rochdale, and Andy Garner,” he continued. “I used to watch Andy score goals for Blackpool when I was a young boy, ‘ooh Andy Garner’ – swivel, turn, top corner shot, that’s what the Seasiders used to sing.
“It will be good to see him but, of course, we have to look to try and repeat our current performance. We want our run to continue for our reasons and we want to give our fans more to cheer about.”
