United's second Youth Alliance Cup group fixture was an away trip to Fleetwood with both sides looking to take the points to help with the battle for a place in the first round proper.
It was a late goal for the Cod Army which proved to be enough to settle the tie as the sides played out a fantastic game in excellent conditions.
Youth boss Eric Kinder said: "I have to say, this was a superb advert for Youth Alliance football.
"Both teams played some excellent stuff and anyone who came along to watch it will have left feeling that they'd seen a very entertaining encounter.
"We created some very good chances but we're going through a spell where we just can't put them away at the moment.
"With this being a round-robin format, and with two games left to play, it probably means that we can't qualify for the knock-out stages.
"That aside, there were a lot of good things on show from our lads. If they take this level of performance into the league games they'll be fine."
More details to follow.
