CUSG: Volunteers required for summer work

Carlisle United Supporters' Groups (CUSG) are asking for fans to help out and lend their support for two volunteer weeks at the beginning of next month.

The aim of the weeks, commencing Monday 1 July and Monday 15 July, is to help to get Brunton Park ready for the start of the new season.

Terry McCarthy, CUSG events coordinator, explained: "In the main, fans will be involved with painting, though there may be other other tasks to get involved with.

"The volunteer days will run from 10am to 4pm from Monday to Friday. Hot and cold drinks will be provided, but fans should bring lunch."

Geoff Weston, the club's supporter liaison officer who will coordinate the volunteer weeks said: "This activity gives fans an opportunity to provide a little bit of assistance and to be part of getting the stadium ready for the new campaign.

"By way of a thank you for those fans who do come along, all volunteers will be given a ticket to any of the three home pre-season friendlies, for each day they attend, up to a maximum of 10 tickets per fan.

"Effectively each day a volunteer turns up, they get a free ticket to a home friendly game of their choice. If they did come for all 10 days they could end up with tickets to take family or friends to the games as well.

"The volunteer weeks are something we do every year and we're hoping for another positive repsonse."
