Fast forward to the final fixture, and Stevenage will be our visitors on Saturday 25 April.
Our first league away game takes us to the County Ground to play Swindon Town [Saturday 10 August] and that’s followed up on the road 10 days later with a Tuesday night trip to the same area of the country [Cheltenham away on 20 August].
League new boys Salford City come to Carlisle for the first time at the end of the first month [Saturday 24 August] and we make the return journey at the start of the Easter weekend when we head to the outskirts of Manchester on Friday 10 April.
Our longest journey of the season – the 778-mile camel ride of a round trip to Plymouth – is on a Saturday in October, with the trek to Crawley scheduled for February.
Tuesday night away games include Forest Green Rovers in January and Northampton Town in March (with the previously mentioned Cheltenham match the other midweek jaunt to plan for).
The festive period sees us host Bradford City on Boxing Day [a Thursday], then it’s on the road to play Walsall at the Bescot on Sunday 29 December before first-footing at Crewe on New Year’s Day.
Our first home game of 2020 will be when Newport County come to town on Saturday 4 January.
The Easter spell starts with the aforementioned Good Friday meeting with Salford City, followed by an Easter Monday home match against Scunthorpe United.
Our final away game of the season is at Exeter, bang in the middle of April as the campaign ends early this time round with a busy summer of football action in mind.
