It was back to league action for the young Blues on Saturday morning as they hosted Preston North End at Creighton.
Preston showed a ruthless streak as they took a three-goal lead into the half time break, and they added to that with a fourth midway through the second period.
The young Cumbrians grabbed a late consolation when left back Liam Brockbank got into to the box to notch a cool right footed finish, when he got on the end of a cross from Taylor Charters, but missed opportunities were the tale of their day as they watched the visitors take the points away.
