United played well at Poolfoot Farm with the home keeper seeing plenty of action through what was a very close game.
The young Blues created a host of good chances, with Kerr, Kelly and Braithwaite denied by the in-form stopper, but it was a solitary strike from the hosts which proved to be the difference in the end.
Youth boss Darren Edmondson said: "This was a very good performance. I'm disappointed for the lads because they played well and they deserved to get on the score sheet, at the very least.
"There are plenty of positives to take from it though, and they can come away feeling pleased with the effort they put into what was a decent display."
