First team players Peter Grant and Liam McCarron made a special trip to the Carlisle Youth Zone last Monday night as they went to help with the handover of 85 tickets for the MK Dons home game as part of our ticket donation scheme.
Local Independent Financial Adviser Steve Coyles, who is also a member of our United for Business group, purchased 25 match tickets and, following a conversation with Community Sports Trust manager John Halpin, identified the Football For All [ability counts] group as very worthy recipients of his ticket donation.
Speaking at the Youth Zone, Steve said: “As a long-standing supporter of Carlisle United I really wanted to get involved in this scheme because I see the club as being a focal point for the city and Cumbria, for that matter.
“The #8kforMK campaign, together with the good form shown by the team and the current league position, seems to be creating a positive atmosphere which deserves support.
“Hopefully it will not only engage new fans but will also encourage the return of many of our stay away supporters.
“There’s a buzz around at the moment and I’m now hoping for a big crowd at Brunton Park and a successful, promotion winning end to the season.”
Also in attendance on Monday night were representatives from Kingmoor Park and Armstrong Watson – both also United for Business members – who made a combined donation of 60 tickets for children who attend activities and groups at the Carlisle Youth Zone.
Neil McIntyre, managing director Kingmoor Park Properties, said: “As proud supporters of the club, Kingmoor Park are pleased to support Carlisle United’s #8kforMK campaign and are delighted to be donating these tickets to Carlisle Youth Zone, who will be able to ensure that as many young people and families get to the match as possible.
“We hope that the club reaches their target on the day and the crowds help to secure that well deserved promotion!”
Charlotte Kennedy, marketing manager with Armstrong Watson, said: “Armstrong Watson is both proud and keen to support Carlisle Youth Zone and our home city football club Carlisle United with this donation.
“We hope the club achieves their 8,000 target and that all those lucky enough to attend the match have a fantastic time.”
