Summer signing Harry McKirdy made it a dream debut last Saturday when he took just six minutes to notch his first strike for his new club – a career first headed goal – which set the Blues on the way to an opening day victory against Crawley Town.
United boss Steven Pressley spoke about the potential the livewire forward has shortly after the game at the weekend.
“Harry [McKirdy] is one who makes the supporters get excited,” he said. “That’s why people come to the stadium, it’s to see these types of players.
“The great thing for the likes of Harry McKirdy is, and I asked him this the other day, was it his first season where he was going to start his first senior game on the opening day, and it is.
“He said that he’s always onto his agent on the first day looking to get a loan move, so to go out there and get a goal, and with his head, which he’s never done before, is great for him.
“He’s also such an exciting player. He gets people off their seats and he always looks like he can make something happen. I’m pleased for him because he’s a really good kid. He takes a bit of managing, but he’s a good kid underneath that.”
