Carlisle United are delighted to confirm that midfielder Mohammed Ali Sagaf has today signed a one-year contract [with a club option] which keeps him at Brunton Park until at least the summer of 2020.
Sagaf, 21, has spent a period of pre-season on trial with the Blues and featured in the friendly games against Tranmere Rovers and Ross County.
The playmaker has spent the bulk of his early career on the non-league circuit but enjoyed a brief spell with Ipswich, as well as attending trials with various football league clubs.
Manager Steven Pressley said: “He’s the final piece of the midfield jigsaw and he falls into the category we’ve been looking at.
"We've been looking at young, hungry players to complement the experience we already have. For his size, he’s a really tough kid and he’s a good football player.
"He’s the type of player we were looking for, and he brings something different to what we’ve already got, so we’re really pleased.
“Although he was in the Ipswich academy, this is really his first step into first-team senior football and he’ll be desperate to prove himself.
“He did really well in non-league last year, but this will be a step up again. From what I’ve seen in training and in the games he’s played so far, he really does have the potential. Now it's up to him.”
This deal remains subject to the clearance of all paperwork.
