Our surprise guests at the Harraby 3G soccer school this week were defender Gary Miller and midfielder Stefan Scougall.
The pair popped along on Thursday afternoon to watch the World Cup competitions as they went into full flow, and the children even made time to break away to get a huge team pic done, with the lads taking centre stage.
CST manager John Halpin said: “It’s fantastic for the children when the players come along and it’s even better when, like today, we haven’t said anything to them.
“You see their faces light up when the players walk around the corner and it was good of Gary and Stefan to spend a little bit of time chatting and listening to the youngsters.”
“There was a very intense competition going on when we arrived and that was fantastic to see,” Gary said. “You could tell by the way everybody lined up for the photo that they were pleased to see us, so it was nice for us to be able to play a small part in what has clearly been a very enjoyable week.”
“It was really hot out there for the players but that didn’t seem to bother them,” Stefan added. “Some of them had been with the soccer school for two weeks already, but they all said they would be back again if they had the chance.
“I think we all enjoy visits like that because you can see how much enjoyment they’re getting just from playing the game. That’s what it’s all about.”
