ACADEMY: Holland Cup beckons for younger age groups

United’s under-11, 12 and 13 squads are in for an exciting few days as they head off to Almere in the Netherlands to take part in the 2019 Holland Cup tournament.

A packed itinerary sees the players and staff head across to Newcastle on Thursday where they’ll catch the overnight ferry to Amsterdam.

The transfer to Almere during Friday morning is followed by a training session and an evening trip to The City Stadium to watch the Eerste Divisie fixture between hosts Almere FC and Telstar.

It’s into the tournament proper on Saturday with the age groups drawn to play against teams from France, Denmark, Germany and Holland.

Results from this first set of round-robin fixtures determine the opponents to be faced through the remaining stages of the competition.

Also on the agenda will be an evening of bowling, as well as an Ajax stadium tour, before the teams head back to Carlisle next Tuesday.
