Club captain Danny Grainger went along to Lazonby CE School on Friday afternoon ahead of their visit to Brunton Park to watch the Tranmere Rovers game as part of our Community Ticket Scheme, supported by The Cumberland.

The children asked Danny some tough questions, including what was his favourite ground to play at, his best ever goal, and also why he became a footballer instead of a farmer!

"I always enjoy visits like this, and the kids always come up with questions you never expect," Danny told us.

"The children came along to the Tranmere game, so it was nice to help get them excited for their visit as part of the Community Ticket Scheme we run here at the club.

"Although the result wasn't what we all hoped for, I know all of the groups who attended on Saturday had a great day and enjoyed getting to meet Olga and a couple of the players, as well as being able to walk around the pitch."

Lazonby headteacher Mr Davies said: "Danny is a local lad and he really understands the difference he can make with visits like this one.

"Our children were looking forward to seeing him all week, and they all enjoyed their visit to Brunton Park on Saturday, despite the result."
