The young Blues were at Bury on Saturday morning for the third of their Alliance Cup group fixtures.
They went into the fixture off the back of a good away draw at Wrexham, having been unlucky to lose the opening group game against Blackpool early in September.
But they were undone by two goals in the last six minutes of the game having given as good as they'd got for much of the encounter courtesy of a decent strike from Keighran Kerr.
United - Ward, Steele (Walton 55), Brockbank, Casson, Wilson, Lightfoot, Papa, Armstrong (Galloway 50), Kerr, Branthwaite (Soper 70), Charters (Rooks 80). Sub - McLachlan.
