Carlisle United are delighted to announce that £530 was raised for Eden Valley Hospice from the proceeds of last Saturday’s match publication, which was produced in memory of former-United player Tony Hopper, who sadly passed away earlier this month.
The match publications sold out during the game against Morecambe at Brunton Park last weekend, but extra copies were collected from H&H Reeds Printers on Monday evening allowing the club to add to the total raised.
Neil Dalton, club physio and former team mate of Tony, and Dave Wilkes, who was his youth team coach, went along to the Hospice on Thursday afternoon to present the cheque.
“It was just fantastic to be able to be involved in handing the cheque over to the Hospice staff," Neil said. "I'm really good friends with all of the family, as I was with Tony, and I know they had nothing but praise and admiration for the way they were all looked after through what has been a very difficult time.
“Thank you to everyone who helped to raise this cash for what is a wonderful facility."
Dave Wilkes commented: “The Hospice staff are wonderful people and I know from speaking to people like Dolly, and others close to Tony, that the care they gave was greatly appreciated.
"I'm really pleased that we've been able to hand something over from what was an emotional occasion last Saturday."
H&H Reeds Printers, who print and design the match publications, also kindly donated their production costs for this issue to Eden Valley Hospice.
