With a number of fixtures to be slotted in following the recent run of postponements United switched their twice postponed home fixture against Wigan Athletic to Christopher Park this afternoon.

The young Blues played some good football and created decent chances on a day when things just didn't go their way, but they were left with nothing to show for their efforts as the Latics displayed a ruthless streak.

Youth boss Darren Edmondson said: "We created five really good chances and scored once. They created five good chances and scored four.

"That was the difference on the day. It was a much closer game than the scoreline suggests and we have to remember that they are top of the table and full of confidence.

"One really pleasing aspect of the day was that Max Brown scored his first goal since his return from a cruciate ligament injury. He'll take a lot from that and hopefully it'll help him to push on."

More details to follow.
