Over 50 members of the Blue Army donned gloves, scarves and hats this morning as they came along to Brunton Park as part of a stadium snow-clearing operation which saw the stands, terraces and surrounding areas cleared ahead of tomorrow’s home game against Grimsby Town.

And an inspection of the pitch by local referee Anthony Backhouse confirmed that the playing surface is also in good condition, with the snow coverage to be left in place until tomorrow morning as insulation against any drop in air temperatures tonight.

Thank you to everybody who came along today – an absolutely fantastic effort! We hope you enjoyed the sausage sandwiches and hot drinks!

So, the last step ahead of the big match is to clear the playing surface of snow on Saturday morning.

Can you help?

As with today, we need a decent amount of volunteers to pop along to man the shovels and wheelbarrows from 8am on Saturday morning.

If you are available at any time during Saturday morning, please do come down and lend a hand. Every helper receives a free match ticket for tomorrow’s game.

Saturday morning – 8am – pitch snow clearance – please dress appropriately and bring a snow shovel (if you possess one)

Please only travel to Brunton Park on Saturday if it is safe to do so. Follow local advice and Cumbria Constabulary bulletins at all times.
