Carlisle United can today confirm the name of the Potential Overseas Investor who held investment talks with the club between 2015 and 2017.

The club ended the talks in February 2017 after agreement over a proposed investment in the club could not be reached.

Legal restrictions were in place, which resulted in the identity of the interested party not being disclosed until now.

It has always been the club’s intention to confirm the name, but we had to be in a position to do it, having entered into legal undertakings during the negotiation process.

While investor confidentiality is routine in business, we fully accept it proved difficult for the club as it led to widespread speculation and has been upsetting and frustrating for supporters.

We can confirm that the potential investor was Mr Yahya Kirdi, as has been widely reported over many months. He has since moved on to be involved in another football club.

We have already provided as much other information and detail as we could to supporters about what occurred over that very long period, at our Fans’ Forums, in press interviews, on the official website and on the local radio. Having done that already, this final confirmation brings that chapter to a close.
