United manager John Sheridan used his first morning at the club to take the opportunity to discuss the looming season ticket early buy and renewal deadline, which was set to close at 5pm last Friday [8 June].
With 1,533 season tickets already sold, he today secured a further one-week extension to the closing date, with the early buy and renewal deadline now set for 5pm on Friday 15 June.
Speaking about the decision this morning, the new gaffer said: “I know the deadline had already been extended before I got here, but I’m a new manager with new ideas and I want everybody to be positive.
“I want our supporters to believe that we’ve got a really good chance of getting out of this division. We’ve extended the season ticket deadline for another week so hopefully everybody gets on board and has the strong belief that we’re going to have a successful season.
“If we‘re going to be successful we need the fans to be right behind us. Brunton Park is a fantastic place when the crowd are backing their team. They have a part to play so I hope they feel they can come along and help to build the excitement.
“I know people might say it’s easy for me to say the right things, but I truly believe that the staff and players I’m bringing in will be the right people. It’s a new beginning for the club and I want everyone to be with us every step of the way.”
