Midfielder Jack Egan has today put pen-to-paper on a six-month contract which keeps him at Brunton Park until the beginning of January 2019.

Egan, 19 in October, came through the youth ranks to be offered his first professional deal at the end of the 2016/17 campaign.

He spent a spell on loan with local outfit Workington which started in September 2017 and moved to Lancashire to feature for Clitheroe FC in two spells in February and March 2018, before being recalled as first team cover for United with a month of the season left to play.

Manager John Sheridan said: "Everyone is back with a clean slate and I want all of our younger players to show the desire and hunger needed to make a mark.

“As I’ve said before, if they demonstrate they can play at this level they'll be utilised. It’s not about age, it’s about what they can add to the squad and the team. Pre-season is a great chance for everyone to show what they’re about and to catch the eye, because I will be watching."

This deal remains subject to the clearance of all paperwork.
