United boss John Sheridan confirmed that he is due to sit down with trialists Charlie Scott and Lewis Walters to talk about ‘what’s best for all parties’ following last night’s friendly at Holker Street.

Former Forest forward Walters, 23, played the first half against Barrow behind the strikers with Scott, 21 in September, playing at centre back for 75 minutes before being replaced by Sam Adewusi for the closing stages of the game.

“I’ll talk to the trialists and we’ll see what’s best for all parties,” the manager commented. “We’ve had Lewis with us for a week and it’s always better to see these lads in game situations.

“Charlie was at Manchester United. He’s been with them for a while and he’s played for their under-23 side. He joined us on Monday and he’s a bit short on fitness, so he was pushed into the game.

“To be fair, a few of our lads looked a bit short, so we all need to catch up and get going.”

Stoke-born Scott joined the Manchester giants in 2014 and has played in a number of positions and roles for their development squad. He spent the second half of last season on loan north of the border with Hamilton Academical, where he made two appearances.
