The goal, a bullet of a volley after keeper Chris Day had punched clear under pressure from Richie Bennett, earned the Blues a vital three points and sparked fantastic celebrations almost from the moment it left his boot.
Speaking about the nomination, he said: "It was nice to see it fly in, but I still say that the three points was the main thing from the day.
“Getting the win at home after the run we’d been on was lovely, but to be nominated for this is fantastic for me personally.
“There’s always a good standard of goal in these things but it is nice to get nominated and a bit of recognition."
“Benno is still trying to claim an assist for it!" he joked. "It was one of those where 99 times out of 100 they go into the Warwick.
"That’s why it was nice to see it nestle in the top corner."

As for where it ranks in what is an impressive portfolio of top class finishes, he told us: “It’s up there in the top two or three.
"The one I scored against Pompey will still rank at number one – a swing of my right foot – but it’s always good to score, and even better if it’s a goal people can talk about.”

The November nominations are:
Danny Grainger – CARLISLE UNITED v Newport County – 3 November
A captain’s way to claim three points for his side. Grainger had no right to be so far forward in injury time, but he adjusted his feet adroitly to lash home a finely judged angled winner.
George Maris – Oldham Athletic v CAMBRIDGE UNITED – 17 November
Deliberately hovering in a pocket of space, Maris collected a diagonal pass with glee, taking one stride forward before unleashing an arcing piledriver from distance into the top corner.
Sammie Szmodics – COLCHESTER UNITED v Exeter City – 24 November
The wonder of this beauty was the technique Szmodics used to whip his foot around the ball, keeping it low and arrowing towards the bottom corner without a moment’s hesitation.
Voting opens at 6am on SkySports, com and closes on Monday 17 December.
