The lads have continued to work hard on their ‘Away goals count double: score yours through EU Mobility!’ trip to Budapest with gym sessions and an interesting punt at ‘bubble football’ seeing them take the enjoyment levels to new heights.

As you can see from the pictures, academy boss Darren Edmondson was sent into a spin when he was tackled by two players [who will remain anonymous] as he tried to get the upper hand during the bubble football session.

In the third of the games against the local sides, played at the Globall Hotel, Hungary’s national youth development centre, another good performance saw the Cumbrians run out as 5-1 winners when they came up against Soroksar SC.

Soroksar took an early lead, with just four minutes on the clock, but goals from Kerr, Charters (2), Casson and Luke Taylor - now with Park View Academy - saw them ease to a comfortable victory.

Academy head coach Dave Wilkes said: “The lads started slowly in their latest game, but they got a bit of a kick up the backside when they conceded within the first five minutes.

“From there they calmed themselves down and got on with their jobs. The trip comes to an end this week but I know I speak for everybody when I say that the facilities have been fantastic, we’ve been looked after superbly well and we’ve learned a lot about the group and about the culture.”

As part of the Erasmus+ programme in Telki - managed by Ecorys UK as part of the UK National Agency - the club was awarded funding to take part in the trip, with a focus on learning and development at the core of the work being done in one of Europe’s most fascinating locations.
