Manager John Sheridan insisted that nobody at Brunton Park will be getting carried away despite the side having just secured nine points from their last three games which has propelled them into the upper reaches of the table.
“Ten points from the first five games is a good comeback after losing the first one,” he said. “Two points per game would get us out of this league, if we carried on like that.
“There’s a long, long way to go, so we won’t get carried away, because I know what’s around the corner if you do. We’ve just got to keep our feet on the ground.
“The players are going out there with a bit of belief and they know I won’t let them get away with anything. If I can get 10-15% more out of them by keeping on top of them then I’ll carry on doing it.”
“It’s important we don’t switch off because there are loads of things wrong in our game which makes us vulnerable,” he added. “I don’t want to be too down on them, we’ve just had a brilliant week and got nine points out of nine.
“There’s a good feeling in there, but there always will be when you’re winning games, no matter how you’re playing. It’s good for everyone involved in the club, and for the fans who come and support the team.”
With another clean sheet added to the tally, he commented: “The clean sheet is a big plus, that goes without saying.
“I thought Anthony Gerrard was outstanding, as were the whole back four. The good thing is we’re getting the clean sheets as a team. I’m not really bothered who gets man-of-the-match but I thought it was a workmanlike performance from everybody.
“I said before the Cheltenham game, if we could win that game and come into the two home games positive it would be good for everybody. We’ve done that and now we’ve just got to keep working hard.”
